Facts why we use the laser etching process:

FAQ: The most accepted way to print on foil lids is with a Rotogravure printer.

FAQ: Rotogravure K-cup® lid printing machines use FDA compliant food-grade inks and adhesives.

FAQ: Rotogravure printing machines cost a fortune and they require a plate to be made for each design. These are the reasons why when ordering custom lids they demand high MOQ’s (Minimum Order Quantity) from 5k to 200k and have a plate charge (not to mention the 4-5 week lead time).

FAQ: Almost all inkjet or UV printers on the market do NOT use food safe ink and their product may pose a health risk when used in combination of a pod lid because hot water runs over the ink and into the pod - contaminating the contents.

FAQ: With edible ink stamps (like the one used to stamp your eggs), the color may bleed when put into the coffee machine and the quality of the stamp and the design of the image is very limited.

SOLUTION: The best alternative to Rotogravure printing we found is laser etching. Using the right laser type and settings, you can etch away the food-grade inks on a Rotogravure colored blank without piercing or damaging the foil beneath, leaving a beautiful logo or image.

CAUTION: Not using the right laser method with Rotogravure colored blanks is not safe for either the creator or the consumer.

FAQ: Other than major manufacturers who are using molds to imitate a laser etched “look”, we are the only company that offers this option (to our knowledge). No, we didn’t re-invent the wheel, but we are very much doing something new in the industry. Maybe it's because the process is time consuming and too labor intensive for major players to pay attention to. That's where we come in. We believe in the huge industry built around small batch roasters and boutique hospitality services that want to showcase their unique Brands and highlight their labors for their clientele to see and enjoy.. 

• Current options for K-Cup® Lids:

  • Brown ring with brown center. This is the newest option and offers the most dynamic, versatile, and beautiful results. We can do a logo or even a photo!

  • Gray or Brown ring with white center. This option offers a clean look with a silver offset that can be very professional looking.

  • In the works (under testing): More color variation like: Grey ring with Green Center. Many more options are coming or let us know what you require and we will make your color combo our priority.

• Current options for Nespresso® Original Line Pods

  • Laser etch the bottom, side or both. Since the pods are colored aluminum, the possibilities are endless! Available colors are Black, Green, Red, and Gold. We think Black, Red and Green are best, but it’s up to you.
